Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My scholars attend an IB magnet school in a very economically and racially diverse neighborhood located in Houston. In an IB science class, we are devoted to learning through hands-on inquiry, reflecting on how and what we learn, and connecting what we learn to the rest of the world.
Historically, we have a high population of lower-income students, but our population is diversifying, and it is a blast as a teacher to see students from different backgrounds learning to work together in groups, struggle through the frustrations of everyday relationships, and become globally conscious, well-rounded scientists.
My Project
All equipment will be for the HMS Razorback Baseball team. Between two teams, we have 27 players, and all of this will help provide both equipment for practice and for each team to take to games.
These tanner tees will be set up in our batting cages in order to help players practice their technique and form before adding the elements of timing and hand-eye coordination with live pitching.
The helmets will help provide a uniform selection of properly sized helmets for our players during games. Currently, students bring their own (if they have any), and we do not all have the correct sizing and coloring for a team look.
