We are a first grade classroom in the heart of our city.

Many of our students come from low income families and we are a Title I school. There is sometimes little support at home due to a large population of English Language Learners that we have. My students are great kids who are motivated to learn. I am always looking for new technology to encourage them.

My Project

Raz-Kids is a subscription-based service that correlates with the small group reading done in the classroom. Students have the opportunity to use this program at home for extra reading practice. They can listen to, read and record themselves reading books at their ability level. Having a subscription to Raz-Kids will create a bridge between what happens in the classroom with home. Parents have the ability to log in and see what their child has been reading as well as how accurately they have answered reading comprehension questions. The children will be able to become better readers by using this program for extra practice.

We have been using Raz-Kids and the children love it.

Unfortunately, the subscription ends in January. I know they will be disappointed if they don't get to use it anymore. It is my hope that I can renew before it expires and let the reading continue.
