My Students

I teach at a very dynamic elementary school in a very diverse area. My students come from all walks of life and make up a unique group of learners.

Our school is a warm, nurturing place where students love to come each day to work together and learn from one another.

The children bring out the best in one another. Our goal is to develop the mind and character of each unique child so that they are the best version of themselves.

My Project

Children's lives can be transformed with quality literature. It promotes the joy of reading, develops children’s vocabulary, and increases their ability to think, talk, and write about texts that fully engage their interest. These texts will be read aloud to my class and open their worlds to different characters, setting, topics, and genres. Themes of courage and determination will also help my children become more socially and emotionally healthy. Genres of realistic fiction and fantasy will allow children to see the world through two different lens.

When doing intentional teaching of connecting ideas, central themes, and genre, children's reading foundations become even stronger!

Please consider being a part of these text sets that need to be integrated and shared with my classroom family.
