Help me give my students 20 writing journals to hone their writing skills and explore the writing process!

Our school motto is “just like family”, and in our classroom, we are all a classroom family. My students live in a small community and we reflect those same tight-knit community values inside of our school walls. In our classroom we value strong relationships built on trust, love, and supporting each others’ academic, social, and emotional growth; just like family.
My first graders are curious, active, social, creative, and resilient.
Our class word is “persevere”; I teach my students the word “persevere” during the first week of school because the first grade is challenging, but we do not give up when we are learning new and difficult skills. “Persevere” rings in our classroom from the first week of school until the last day. One of my sweet firsties who made a deep connection with our class word expressed to me on the last day of school that he learned how to “persevere and do my best work” in the first grade.
My students will improve their handwriting with the Mead Grades K-2 Primary Journals. The wide-ruled spacing and guide marks help children learn how to write letters, while the large margin at the top of each page provides plenty of room for writing titles and creating illustrations.
Writing is a powerful tool used to change the world.
I want my students to be confident and motivated writers. I will take my students through the writing process multiple times throughout the school year in order to hone their writing skills using the Mead Grades K-2 Primary Journals. My students will brainstorm their ideas for writing, plan, organize, draft, revise, draft some more, edit, publish, and illustrate their writing all using the Mead Grades K-2 Primary Journals.
We used Mead Grades K-2 Primary Journals in my previous classroom during my teaching residency, and our students’ writing made tremendous growth using these journals. Many students began the first grade in September writing symbol salad and concluded the school year in June writing 3+ sentences that showcased the six traits of writing: ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions. I am eager to see my next class of students’ growth using the Mead Grades K-2 Primary Journals!
