Help me give my students lots of amazing new books to read which touch on important life lessons like perseverance and understanding feelings, and academic lessons such as point of view and comparing story elements.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember trying to do something that seemed really hard? It may have even felt impossible. As a Reading Specialist in a Title I district on the border of Detroit, I provide support to kids who are currently at the bottom 20% in reading. I love helping my students develop the skills they need to succeed in school.
My students are amazing kids that struggle with learning to read, and so many really want to be fantastic readers and writers.
These kids need your help! With your support, we will be able to have those extra resources that can help all kids learn to love reading and writing. We would love to have you as part of our Literacy Team!
My Project
Ramping Up Readers requires lots of great books! This project is the beginning of my goal to offer all of the students and teachers at my school great read alouds and resources to really ramp up everyone's reading.
Last year, I was reading a borrowed copy of Jabari Jumps to a room of first graders when a high-spirited friend yelled out "You can do it" and I knew he was hooked on this story!
Your support of this project will help a whole school of kids ramp-up their love for awesome characters, like Jabari, and embrace fun stories about real-life problems as they read Rulers of the Playground.
With your help, we will be able to share these books and our love of reading.
