My students need the Kindle Fire 8 tablets to enhance reading and problem solving skills, as well as explore technology through hands on developmentally appropriate activities. I will use the laptop and tablet to develop lessons.
Wiggly, giggly, full of life and excitement! My students come from a rural, mountainous area in the Foothills of Appalachia. Many live with families that struggle to earn enough money to meet the poverty level guidelines. Several are being raised by grandparents or other relative. Most come to school with diverse backgrounds, abilities and with little to no experience with the outside world.
I love to see the excitement begin to bloom in their eyes as they experience new activities and gain a deeper understanding of the world that surrounds them.
These children have fun while learning foundational skills through guided play.
My Project
The children will gain many important skills from using the Kindle tablets. They will learn reading, problem solving, science and social skills. These tablets can also be modified for diverse needs and abilities. Recent studies show that children who have guided instruction with effective devices do better academically and socially. The laptop and tablet will be used to create developmentally appropriate activities, to research activities, plan lessons, modify activities for children with diverse needs, communicate with families about lessons snd events and to guide instruction. These devices will also make me more effective in tracking development and in recording documentation of this development.
