Ram-Pa-Pa- Rum. I Can Play the Drum Help Us Buy Drums!
My students need more Djembes and Tubanos in order to start a Drum Circle and teach World Drumming. They love to play the drums and these instruments would be perfect!
We will be able to have a Drum Circle when we have more instruments, and also more effectively teach World Drumming with a greater variety of percussion instruments. The students were very disappointed when I told them we did not have enough instruments for all of them to play at the same time.
My students live in the inner-city and their families cannot afford to buy instruments for them.
My talented students love to sing, dance and play the drums. When I ask, "Who would like to play the drums?", all hands go up. Drumming is the one activity that every child in the classroom desires to participate.
My Project
The Djembe and Tubano will bring great joy and well-being to my students. When I teach World Music, the students can truly understand and experience the excitement of being in a Drum Circle. They will be able to learn proper drumming techniques due to the larger and nearly professional sounding drums.
The level of excitement for going to Music class will greatly increase as the students have new drums to play and it will be easier for students to hear, learn and perform rhythm patterns on the Djembe and Tubano.
The workbook with exercises and examples will add to their skill level and knowledge about World Drumming.
It is a known scientific fact that drumming relieves stress; brings a sense of well-being; and builds community among the participants.
My students need to have some joy in their lives and playing in a Drum Circle would provide them a safe way of expressing their emotions. I believe many of them would make drumming a part of their lives in the future because they had the opportunity to experience playing a nearly professional instrument in their classroom.
