My Students
My students are from West Baltimore and exposed to all types of situations. A large majority of students are reading one or more years below grade level. Many of my students do not have access to technology. At our elementary school, we strive to give our scholars the very best support needed so they are able to succeed and be successful whether in college or a career of their choice.
Due to the socioeconomic status of our students, the entire school gets free lunches.
Many students are being raised in single parent households. My students love being able to express themselves as well as reading and providing assistance to one another. From the time students come in the room until the end of the day my goal is to have them enhance their minds. While they are at home I am not able to control their environments, but I can provide them with a positive learning experience while in my classroom. Creating a positive learning atmosphere for students is my ultimate goal and I hope to inspire all students to show academic excellence while preparing for college and career readiness.
My Project
Many students are not reading on their correct reading level and need assistance with achieving an end of year goal to be on or above their current grade level. Students will be able to use these Amazon Fire Tablets to help increase their reading levels and math skill levels so they can compete at or above their grade level. The donations to this project will help improve my students ability to achieve their level of understanding with math and reading.
This technology in the classroom will give students the enhancement they need to challenge themselves with a higher education.
We currently have 6 tablets in our classroom for students to use. However all students are limited in time to use the tablet to assist with math and reading. Using the provided tablets will provide knowledgeable assistance and enhance grade level skills.
