Help me give my students age-appropriate writing journals, chapter books, and organizational materials to extend their literacy learning both at school and home.
The students in my first-grade class are incredible! They come to school every day smiling and excited to learn. They love to participate in all types of hands-on learning activities, especially in reading and math. Many of them are advanced in reading and seek extra challenges and opportunities to grow each day.
Literacy plays a huge role in our classroom, and my students LOVE to read and write stories of all kinds.
They are imaginative, enthusiastic, motivated, and enjoy experiencing and creating all types of literature.
My Project
We work hard each day to learn sight words, phonics, and early reading skills. The students make flashcards each week to help reinforce their learning both in school and at home. The pencil pouches I have chosen will give them a place to store the flashcards that they collect throughout the year.
Students become better readers, writers, and thinkers when they learn reading and writing together.
The writing journals I selected are age-appropriate for first graders, as they allow space to draw pictures on each page and have wide-ruled writing lines that encourage students to practice beautiful hand-writing. They are perfect for allowing them to express themselves creatively while practicing the skills and conventions they are learning.
Many of my students are advanced readers even at the beginning of the year, and our classroom has few resources that match their reading needs. The book sets I included would give these students more reading options that would be both captivating and challenging for them!
Puzzles enhance problem-solving skills and strengthen cognitive and memory skills. They help kids think better. The puzzles I chose are a size that my students are drawn to and reflect themes that fascinate them!
