My students need books that are easier to read. I have a small library of low readers and want to increase it.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is my second home. My students are like sponges ready to absorb the information. As a Title I school, families are limited.
My diverse student population is what makes my class so special as well as challenging and rewarding.
Some students come to Kindergarten with very limited knowledge of the English language so hands-on activities are even more important at this age. My school is 80% free and reduced-price lunch with the majority of our population also being ESOL (English is their 2nd language).
My Project
I selected sight word books so that my students can practice their sight words while reading. Books that teach grammar are also on my list. Titles like "If you were a verb". I also added STEM books that can help teach them about recycling.
Increasing my classroom library is a necessity so my students have books on their level and books like "If you were a noun" to assist me in teaching them about nouns.
These materials will allow my students to practice reading and have books that make them feel success because they can read them with little or no help.
