This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are super second-grade students in a high-needs school district. They are excited about school and learning! Unfortunately, school budgets do not always make it possible for me to provide the materials and experiences to let my students soar.

My Project
Remember how much you loved to have books read aloud to you when you were younger? Me, too! That love of stories turned into a love of reading, and there is nothing I love more than to read stories to my students. Help me provide my students with quality materials for classroom read aloud time.
Books help students make connections to their lives, and to the concepts we are learning in the classroom- but independent reading time can be frustrating for non-readers. Reading stories aloud helps to ensure that readers of all levels can make these connections. I am asking for your help to purchase a variety of quality books to read with stories about people of all types, ensuring my students feel connected to characters who reflect their lives. These books also will be used as tools to teach all of the standards we learn throughout the year.
