My students need 1 Cricut Maker so they can cut felt, faux leather, crepe paper, cardstock, paper, balsa wood, iron on vinyl, and more to give them the freedom to CREATE and apply their STEM skills!
I am a 1st grade teacher. I teach a diverse class of 24 future leaders and community members. We belong to a Title I school which means we have high numbers of children from low-income families, who come to school with so much enthusiasm but they have limited access to technology and have rare access to the world of programming and robotics.
In this technology-driven world, I want to teach my student programming skills.
I want to encourage them to see problems around them and then have the fire to solve them through the own creativity.
I believe that more than basic reading, writing, and math, basic coding and designing can be easily incorporated to a child’s education because to them they are just playing. As a teacher, I know how playing is a huge part of learning. With this I know that having an Ozobot and a Cricut Maker will give them the freedom to design 3D models and to build them in order to solve STEM problems.
My Project
I am requesting a Cricut Maker for my students.
In our Title I school, we are provided with textbooks and hands-on learning board games but I know we can help them have so much more by teaching them Engineering at a young age!
With a Cricut Maker, the student will be able to cut paper, felt, fabric, cardstock, posterboards, chipboards, foil, vinyl, iron on vinyl, stencils, and even balsa wood. This equipment will teach kids that when they can imagine things they can make it happen.
They can make 3D Models and crafts with the help of Cricut Design Space a simple software even kids can use. They will have an opportunity to create art projects with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) applications, all this learning can happen with your help. They will be able to have an arts hour where they create models given a goal.
We are in the 21st century and we want to make sure that our future leaders and community members are receiving opportunities to learn how to use technology. If we truly want to make a difference in the students' lives, we have to help them love learning and problem solving.
