The majority of my students come from low income homes. Despite their economic disadvantages, my students are enthusiastic about art and the art room. We are a K-5 elementary school with over 500 students. Most of my students are Hispanic or African American. We love to create using any material we have to work with. Unfortunately, our low income, high poverty district does not have all of the resources that other schools have available to them. We are in need of some of the most basic art supplies to keep the school art year going.
My Project
Water flow in an art classroom is a necessity. With access to running water my students will be able to clean their paintbrushes, wash their hands, fill their water cups, and so much more while in the classroom. This will save time so that students can spend more time on creating their art.
Easy sink access is not only a time saver but also safer so that students do not trip and fall while transporting water, paintbrushes and other supplies to and from the bathroom.
In addition to safety and clean up, a sink will provide more opportunities for students to create art with a larger variety of materials. We would be able to paint more often, sculpt with clay, buid with paper mache, and more.
