In our school district we are not allowed to include art in our classroom lessons during instruction. Thus, our students have not had the opportunity to experience the creative aspects of learning in the area of the arts. We have created an after school art program for the fifth graders. We would like them to create a rain forest habitat using various materials, as well as paint a rain forest mural inside our school. We are in need of various items to help make this project a reality for the students. I hope that there are donors in the N.Y.C. area that can appreciate how important this would be for these children.
