My students need games, like Jenga and Trouble, to play during rainy days and P.E. equipment, like soccer balls and basketballs, to use on Friday afternoons.
My students are wonderful children, however, they face socioeconomic disadvantages that will make realizing the American Dream a bit of a challenge. With a little support, they just might get there.
My students are fifth graders in a socioeconomically depressed community.
Most of my students are Hispanic and several are still learning to speak English. Despite their disadvantages, they come to school with great enthusiasm and an appetite to learn. They are a great group of kids that bring a smile to my face on a daily basis.
I'm requesting two different types of resources. The first group includes games (Trouble, Checkers, Connect Four) that we would use in the classroom on inclement weather days. Right now, my students don't have much to do in the classroom on those days.
The second group of resources includes P.E. equipment (Basketballs, Kick balls, Soccer balls, etc...) that we would use on Friday afternoons. Right now we don't have any equipment to use, so we are limited to relay races and steal the bacon.
My students would greatly appreciate any support that you could provide them with these resources.
We have most of the necessary supplies for learning, however we are lacking the supplies that my students look forward to using.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
