We are a great group of 3rd graders who are in a suburban school in Menomonee Falls. While we are in the 'suburbs', we are a very diverse school. Our free lunch program feeds approx. 30% of our students. We have a variety of backgrounds: Asian, Indian, Black, and Hispanic. Many of our students walk to school while others ride the bus everyday.
Our school strives to be the best it can be!
We live by the words: Be respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe!!!
My Project
There are many times that my students have to stay inside the classroom because it is raining outside. I would like to provide as many opportunities for them to use their time inside. As I think about that games I have, they are either broken or have missing pieces. This creates much frustration for the students. I have taught both 2nd and 4th grades, most recently 2nd grade, so my games are a bit tattered and torn as well as not exciting for them.
I chose games that can be both played either alone or with other students.
I thought about the variety of students in my classroom and the variety of interests that they have. For that reason I chose games that are both educational and fun!! I also thought about the kinds of games for our classroom. I picked some games like EXCLUSIVE OK Play: The Travel Tile Game You Can Take Anywhere (Target Exclusive) which is a bit over $30.00 that can be played both singly or with a partner or small group. I also thought about games that could easily be played in a 20 minute time frame.
These games will enhance student learning by exposing kids to a wide variety of games and have them be able to play by themselves of with a small group. I know that there are some days that kids just want some time alone but on most days, they want to spend time with their classmates.
Kids+Sharing+Games=Fun!!! I am requesting funds to bring new and exciting games into the classroom for them to choose from. There are many kids who do don't have the opportunity to play games at home anymore or they don't even know how to play board games. This is a great time for kids together!
