My students need supplies for an upcoming rain forest unit. We will be using a variety of charts, images, and colored markers to differentiate instruction and allow them to connect with the content.
My students are at a beautiful school in Pacific Grove, California. My students love whole-brain learning and enjoy meshing foundational skills with exciting project based learning projects when learning social studies and science.
My students love technology and are extremely engaged when working with meaningful technology!
Giving my students access to math, language arts, social studies and science through technology is a wonderful way to accommodate all learners. Technology will play a key role in getting my students college and career ready!
My Project
In this rain forest unit, the students will be interacting with the content through a variety of mediums. They will be working in collaborative "expert" groups to create charts that they will be presenting to the class. Each expert group will also be responsible for keeping their materials together using the folders.
Students will be able to be held accountable for their contribution by using a variety of colors to represent individual contributions to their work.
This will allow me to hold every child accountable as well as ensure that they are engaging with the content in a meaningful way. Students will be using the dry erase markers to copy down information on to their white boards that they will later apply to their anchor charts. The Post-It charts and flip chart pens will allow the students to write and later hang their anchor charts, and then utilize them while they are writing their informative paragraphs. The students will be organizing their work in to folders in order to be able to easily access the information and collaborate. The crayons will be used when the students do their final drawings for the projects.
These materials will help my students master the art of informative writing while using key 21st century skills such as creativity, communication, and collaboration. Thank you for your support for my class!
