Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are Respectful; We are Organized; We are Always Safe; We are Responsible; Twinbrook Tigers ROAR!

Our school has a wonderful program called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

This program rewards students for demonstrating positive behavior at school and helps with improving student academic performance. Our school is a Title 1 school, which means that a majority of our student population comes from families at the poverty level. Our school is very culturally diverse and many students come to us from other countries. Many of our families are facing financial difficulties during this tough economic time. Many of our students cannot afford games and puzzles at home. Having these weekly raffles provides an opportunity for these students to experience the joy of receiving a brand new game. These games also teach important skills such as taking turns, following directions, and improving academic areas such as reading and math.

My Project

We are adding a new program to increase the positive behavior in the cafeteria. In order to do this, we are asking for donations of games and puzzles as raffle prizes to be used to reward students for setting positive examples in the cafeteria. This donation to our school will support our PBIS program in the cafeteria. In the cafeteria we want to decrease some of the behavior problems that we have seen. These donations will provide our students with the opportunity to reinforce and demonstrate the skills they have been taught.

Through your generous donation, our students will realize the importance of demonstrating positive behavior to others and realize the effects that positive behavior has on the community around them.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
