Radios for Car Racing! The Checkered Flag is Waving!
Help me give my students the opportunity to conduct Greenpower races! Track marshalls need radio communication for safety! The marshalls communicate wrecks and stalled vehicles. We want to have safe races for all students with these 20 radios.
We have a GreenpowerUSA program. This is a STEM activity that takes a hands-on approach to learning engineering, project management, team building and racing skills by students building and racing a student-driven race car. The students love this program! It's always their favorite class.
Last year, we had one race car, and finished 8th in the national points standings.
This year, we have two cars and are first and fifth in the national points standings! We're on fire! We are hosting a GreenpowerUSA race, and have thirty teams across the country coming to race. Four of the visiting teams are from over 1,000 miles!
We want to help spread this valuable GreenpowerUSA STEM program to other Georgia schools. Our students want to be the ambassdors to Greenpower racing in Georgia and help other new teams get their start.
My Project
We are putting on an annual GreenpowerUSA race. Schools across the country will be in attendance. We need communications for the track marshalls. These are the guys that are waving the flags to signal to the drivers track conditions.
Track radios keep the flagmen in contact with track safety personnel!
The race director might declare a yellow caution flag if there is a stall or wreck. A corner marshall might see an unsafe condition and need to communicate that a car needs to come into the pits (black flag). Communications are essential.
With these radios, we will serve up to 500 students each race. This will ensure a safe, exciting race in the best STEM program out there.
