My students need sets of leveled readers for guided reading to improve their reading skills, including It Started As a Seed, Helping Mom and Dad and Patterns All Around Me. They also need a Sort & Store Book Organizer.
A typical day in our kindergarten classroom is full of movement, techonology, and packed with learning! Our goal to have all students know at least 20 sight words and all their letters and letter sounds.
I teach a lively group of fun and motiviated kindergarteners!
My students are mostly English Language Learners. English is not their native language, but we are working hard to learn English. My class is 90% free lunch, but full of heart and ready to read and write.
Since my students are not native English speakers, we need lots of practice at reading English words on an easier level. By having books in our classroom that the students can read in guided reading and then read on their own later. This will help boost their confidence in reading by giving them books on their level that can stay in the classroom all the time.
Having lower leveled books for my non-English speaking students will help boost their confidence while keeping them excited about reading becuase they can find words they know or can sound out.
Classroom readers will encourage the students to read and give them books that are on their level without frustrating them.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
