I work at WVP which is a K-2 school located in Goose Creek, SC. Although I have little friends, we are a big school with 850 students! Our staff is committed to educating the total child. Decisions are made on what is in the best interest of students. A partnership between school, home and the community is utilized to meet the individual needs of all students at WVP.
My classroom has a warm, friendly, and inviting atmosphere which provides a safe and positive learning environment for all of my students.
My students all have their individual personalities and learning styles. They have their own strengths which I find and build upon. As a teacher it is my goal to build an inspiring and supportive classroom community to make school a safe and enjoyable place to learn.
Having a rug will produce a comfortable place for my students and me to expand our learning space onto the floor.
A colorful rug with squares is an essential tool not only for designing a friendly environment, but also to help organize the class during activities.
Each student is assigned their own square which allows them ownership and their own space to learn. Students enjoy stretching out on the rug during Sustained Silent Reading. Research shows having a rug in the classroom reduces noise which improves learning. In addition, having a rug can cushion the impact of falls and lessens the chance of injury.
