My Students

My students are inquisitive, creative and are excited about art. My students work hard, ask questions on how they can improve their abilities and look forward to developing their technical skills so they can be confident in themselves and the art they create.

Remember, when you couldn't wait to get to your art class, so you could just unload all your ideas and thoughts building up in side you.

My students are the same way and we try hard to meet their goals.

But our district is located in a rural area where funds are tight. We need paper, and drawing supplies to work on developing the 5 global skills of drawing. So our students can develop their creativity, problem solving skills, patience and how to work through frustration.

My Project

In our Color Theory Unit the first project the students create is a work of art with a radial composition that has a color wheel incorporated into the design. The students start off with color pencils to create this first project. Students learn about primary, secondary and intermediate colors.

The students also learn about the principal of art, balance, specifically radial balance.

Students see examples by artist of radial balance and then are given class time to create their own solutions for the project. Students then create their own solution to how to create a unique and interesting artwork .
