Do you remember the Jetsons when you were a child? Didn't you want a robot maid named Rosie and a robot pet named Astro? We thought the use of robots was purely fiction. But, to my students, it is becoming a reality.
I teach 65 students in a pull-out gifted program in a rural area in Alabama.
Because we are not a Title school, we do not receive all the extra resources like those of Title schools. Also, in our state, gifted education is funded at the minimum and the resources needed to engage my high-ability students is just not available. My students need more resources to help them prepare for the 21st Century careers.
VEX IQ is a robotics platform designed to transform STEM learning for my students and myself. My students can jump right in and snap robots together using this intuitive, toolless platform while I can utilize the free VEX IQ Curriculum to help teach them valuable lessons and skills that are needed in today's changing world.
The VEX IQ Challenge, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, will give my students affordable access to the inspiration, excitement and learning that comes from participating in a STEM challenge.
I want my students to be prepared for their future and learning how to build and program these robots will give them that opportunity.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
