Our students come from very diverse backgrounds including blue collar, white collar, farmers and CEOs. Our community hosts a wide range of experiences and incomes. Located in a township without a post office, our school struggles to make ends meet at times. We aren't Title I, but we could be. We have a very strong community presence in our school, which helps, but constant budget cuts mean less money.
Even with these obstacles, our community is eager to see their children achieve a higher level of academic success than previous generations.
In today's world, being literate in technology is an essential skill. We hope to prepare and enrich our students for such a tech-based world.
My Project
Sometimes, understanding scientific concepts can be challenging. Reading about something in a book or watching about it in a video doesn't always help someone learn. Hands-on, interactive learning is a much more effective way to really grasp how something works. This project hopes to do just that!
This Anki Overdrive set is so much more than just a toy, as the students will have to channel their inner Newton to figure out how the laws of motion apply to cars moving around a race track.
This will be a fun and engaging way to bring curriculum concepts into play. Students will "plearn" or "play-learn" their way to understanding how inertia, gravity, force, and friction play a role in real world situations.
