Help me give my students a more natural environment in which to view our classroom pet bunny. Dubh, the bunny, needs a safe place to hop around so that we can better view him and his adaptations.
I teach in a small town community with loads of spirit and tons of heart. Our small school and its demographics have changed significantly since I walked the halls long ago as an elementary student. However, I enjoy them just as much as I did way back then.
Just because our school is Title One doesn't mean we don't have future leaders of our communities and country among our hallways.
Children from low income homes can be just as successful as children from wealthy backgrounds. Our students need to be reminded of this each day, and that is most definitely my WHY! Our school is full of amazing leaders of all shapes, sizes, and demographics.
My Project
We'd like our pet bunny to have a habitat in which he has the freedom to move around. A new cage with play yard will give us the opportunity to see Dubh, the bunny, at his best!
We will be able to observe his specialized adaptations, better understand his environment and how his true habitat would help him to survive in the wild.
We will also learn all about force and motion as we watch him hop in his expansive play yard! Having a class pet, is one of the best ways to see Science up close and personal!
We are looking forward to learning about rabbits, their environments, and most of all working together to be responsible for such a loving animal.
