Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a K through fifth-grade elementary school, with approximately 650+/- children, in FL, providing free or reduced-price lunch to over half of our students. Many of our students' families struggle financially. My gifted students represent a diverse mix of different ethnic and racial backgrounds, and I want to create a welcoming classroom environment for all. We will be learning about diversity and the importance of inclusion while engaging in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) learning.
My students are amazing, they are our future astronauts that may one day tread on Martian soil, engineer responsibly in our environmentally sensitive treasure known as the Florida Everglades, and produce cutting edge medical research and development while providing world-class care at our booming Lake Nona Medical City.
How can our diverse central Florida students face the challenges of the future without real, meaningful project-based learning opportunities in a STEM and Robotics focused classroom that resonates with a welcoming, inclusive and creative vibe for all?
My Project
These products will continue the great learning taking place in my gifted classroom, supplying supplemental reading material on elementary (both primary and intermediate) science concepts. Additionally, we will be able to supplement the knowledge gained from all this great learning with the Comic Strip Creations project that just funded where we can explain great science concepts taught in our own comic book creations.
My students are both face to face (F2F) and distance (LED) learners and these two series together contain digital editions of 52 books on elementary science topics, making them the perfect bundles for hybrid teaching.
Won't you help me nourish these young scientific minds with awesome adventures in science? Thank you!
