This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are typical high school students growing up in small rural communities in the South. They love the same things that all teens love: socializing with friends, taking selfies, and everything that comes along with being a high school senior. Our school is a feeder school for surrounding towns and they travel up to an hour on the bus to and from school each day. My students live in small rural areas and most are economically disadvantaged. They do not have the resources they need outside of school to complete homework or projects.
To begin the second half of the school year, we need more copy paper, colored paper, glue sticks and tape.
Students will begin new classes which requires new school supplies for many. To help with the cost of a new school year, we are asking for these classroom supplies to help alleviate the financial burden.
My Project
This project will provide much needed classroom supplies such as copy paper, colored paper, glue sticks and tape. In our Government and Economics courses, we create interactive notebooks with graphic organizers. The students enjoy cutting and pasting their graphic organizers into their notebooks. This provides an engaging way to take notes and retain information.
Even Seniors love to cut and paste colorful graphic organizers and we need more colored paper, glue sticks and copy paper!
As a high poverty school, we don't have the funds to purchases these extra items for our classroom. In January, we will begin a new semester in Government and Economics and we want to finish the year strong as Responsible, Respectful, and Ready Rangers!
