Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school with students from Second to Sixth grade. My students are from the inner city and are mostly English language learners. Our school is a pilot school. The school's philosophy focuses on leadership skills with an emphasis on critical thinking.
My students are hardworking, resourceful, and self-motivated young people who are eager to be lifelong learners.
The majority of the students who attend our school will be the first in their families to attend college.
My Project
Science is such an exciting subject for my students. The materials in the project will be put to immediate use in the classroom.
Science is one of the most important subjects students study, because it gives them the critical thinking skills they need in every subject.
The mini-refrigerator will be used to store Petri dishes that are being observed by students to grow bacteria. Some petri dishes need to be in cooler setting than room temperature. The STEM Star posters will guide students in completing a research report on different pioneers in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fields. There will be a focus on women in Science.
