I am so very fortunate to have a class that is made up of so many diverse children. Many of my students are immigrants from Bangladesh and come to this country not knowing English. I have the opportunity and privilege to help them become accustomed to American culture. Many of my students' parents are also very involved in learning the English language.
Being new to the country, many of my students are eager and excited to learn.
They often help each other, and watching them soak up the English language and culture is wonderful!
Distance teaching and learning has certainly been stressful this past Spring. As a teacher everything seems to be done on the fly without any training or materials. However, one lesson I learned is that I really could use Apple Air Pods in order for my lessons to be fluent.
Imagine teaching a lesson over GoogleMeets and all the children hear are trucks and cars going by my front window.
I live in front of major highway and there is the constant sound of traffic streaming through our lessons. I often lose my train of thought when the noise becomes to loud. A set of AirPods will not only help me hear my students better, but they will be able to clearly hear me. It would be a dream not to have audio problems.
It can be very difficult to communicate with my class when there are so many background noises to disturb us.
Distance learning is difficult at the best of times. But my students can really use a teacher who can communicate without traffic and neighbors creating a distraction. My students will certainly benefit from the quiet during our learning periods.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
