Help me give my students an amazing, television-style recording studio so they can feel like stars! We need backdrop support, a green screen, and tripods.

My Students

After twenty-two years as a third grade teacher, I am now the elementary technology teacher. I travel to two schools and teach every student from grades K-5. I see my students every week for forty minutes. I teach digital storytelling, digital citizenship, coding and robotics. Now my job is to help prepare students for the future. How do we prepare students for the future, when that future is constantly changing? Technology is constantly changing and evolving and our classroom needs to reflect those changes. It is also important that my students have equitable access to digital tools. My goal is to have my students be creators of digital content instead of consumers.

The future of the world is in my classroom today.

Technology has the shelf life of a banana, so I am constantly looking for new ways to motivate my students to wonder, to question, and to investigate the ever-changing world they live in. As a technology teacher, it is my job to stay relevant and provide equal opportunities for all students to be creative.

My Project

In today's world, everyone has a camera. Video is the new way of learning. I want my students to become active creators of content instead of passive consumers. Green screen technology sparks creativity and imagination in ways that motivate students. Imagine traveling to places in history while explaining the important circumstances around each environment! I did not have that when I was in school.

Having a green screen studio would allow my students the professional-looking space they need to create projects that would make any Hollywood director proud.
