My students need filmmaking equipment to use in creating film projects including a green screen and green suits for special effects, a tripod for camera stability, and microphones for excellent audio.
My students are sixth graders in the English only side of a Spanish immersion school. Even though they do not participate in learning a second language, there are lots of amazing opportunities for them at our school. Our school has a school news club. We study the art of filmmaking both in front of and behind the camera. We are a STEAM school and a movement school. Our facility is designed to allow students to work in groups to create through projects. My students have lots of energy and love learning through doing.
My Project
Have you ever seen teenagers taking pictures of themselves with their cell phones? Of course you have, because it happens a lot! Students love to see themselves in pictures and film. Filmmaking can be used in the classroom and enhances students' learning through engagement. They can't resist it. They are highly motivated to complete filmmaking projects. Their desire for excellence is often increased when film is involved. Filmmaking allows students to develop technological and 21st Century skills. For these reasons, I try to incorporate filmmaking across the curriculum. But we need some equipment to allow my students to broaden their filmmaking abilities. A green screen and green suits will help students add special effects and a tripod and microphones will improve the quality of the video and sound in their projects. With this equipment, my students will be able to achieve higher levels of filmmaking and educational success. Now... quiet on the set! Action!
