Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a very low socioeconomic environment in which most of them receive free lunch in our district. These children come from all types of backgrounds, and many are children that have migrated to the United States.
Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are now thrust into a formal school setting.
We move from learning letters to reading very quickly. We help students learn English while holding onto and becoming literate in their own language as well.
My students have not only been affected by their low socioeconomic conditions, but they also live in the state that is second highest in the nation for being affected by the coronavirus. We are continuously looking for innovative approaches to teaching and learning to help our most underprivileged students. A creative use of technology can make a difference in their lives.
My Project
Our students are often distracted by many external sounds while at home. Living in small quarters with family members watching TV, listening to music, or hearing other's conversation is very distracting.
The headphones will allow our students to stay more focused while learning virtually and improve their schooling experience during the pandemic.
As we continue to have virtual teaching and learning, we try to provide the best possible experience with what we have. Technology has been our go-to problem solving approach, and we will continue to help our students succeed in any way possible.
