My Students

Our school strives to provide relevant and engaging education. One of the Core Beliefs is that every student is uniquely capable and deserves to be challenged and engaged in relevant, rigorous, and meaningful learning each day. Our goal is to provide meaningful learning experiences through differentiated instruction with challenging and engaging activities.

Our students are special, sensitive, and kind.

We have 411 students in our school, approximately 30 students are identified with special needs. All of these students bring a different energy to our school culture. They are creative, quirky, and have incredible senses of humor.

My Project

The noise-canceling headphones that I am requesting will support our students that may demonstrate symptoms of sensory processing disorder. These students can be easily overstimulated and overwhelmed leading to avoidance and irritability.

Two weeks ago we hosted our beginning of year school kickoff in the gymnasium.

Some students had to be escorted out of the celebration because it was overstimulating and they were becoming irritable. The few students that did have noise-canceling headphones they were able to remain at the kickoff without any difficulty. We desperately want all students to be able to comfortably participate in future programs!
