This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from Central American and South American countries, often with no family members, or any knowledge of the English language.
My students are new to the country, many just getting to school within the past year.
Understandably, they are nervous, scared, curious, and shy. Our school has two populations, with many of my ESL students "sticking together" to make it through the hardships of school and being new to the culture.
My Project
I try to make my room as safe and comfortable to them as possible. With these games, students will be able to work individually, in small groups, with me, or as a class. They will be eased into the language with these materials, as they provide repetition and multiple ways to practice and learn English and certain academic skills.
My project will make a difference in these students lives.
It brings color and excitement and authentic use of the English language in a fun way in our safe classroom environment. They will be very excited!
