My Students

Our students are from the heart of Wichita, KS and have strong minds for learning and such excitement for science! They enter our classroom each day never knowing what to expect; but they are eager to take on whatever we throw at them. The joy and awe on the faces of our kids when they are "doing" science, is the reason why we teach.

Many of our students come to school each day wearing the same clothes that they have worn for the past two days and they rely on school breakfast and lunch for their daily meals but they do not let their disadvantages distract them from their thirst for learning.

My Project

How can you grow a garden in the middle of a concrete jungle? Hydroponics of course!

Help my students learn about growing their own sustainable food source without the use of soil!

Through the use of hydroponic gardening, students will learn that plants can receive all the nutrients it needs from water alone. Additionally, students will learn where food comes from, developing skills that may they will carry with them throughout their lives.

Our students are surrounded by asphalt, concrete and metal and rarely, if ever see where their food comes from. Help us provide a valuable learning opportunity for our students!
