Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of the students in our class room love to learn. They enjoy coming to school each day and continue their love for reading, science, and math.
Overlooked and underserved: our immigrant students who arrive in our classroom from foreign countries.
How do we reach these students and encourage them to become fluent in reading? They need creative learning so that they feel like they are becoming as proficient in fifth grade as the others in our class. All of the students in our room will work together so that no one is overlooked or underserved!
My Project
The students in our Title I classroom come from many different countries. When they arrive into our room, we need to make sure that they are successful in life and in learning. We want these students to learn about all of the fifth grade curriculum and have them begin their journey to become outstanding citizens.
Honduras, Afghanistan, Mexico, Germany, and England are all countries of origin for students in our room.
By having the iPad in our class, we will be able to have students work separately, in pairs, and in small groups as they master our English language. The iPad will allow students to trace over spelling words, read ebooks, let them use learning apps, and motivate their learning. Let's not forget all of the math that an iPad can bring into the classroom and science experiments.
