My first graders are engaged and eager to learn! They learn by playing, exploring, building, thinking, and reading! Their love of reading is contagious. They can hardly wait to share exiting new stories with their family and friends.
A first grader's reading ability can improve dramatically when they have access to a variety of interesting books.
With the proper books available, I can ensure these children have a strong foundation in reading. This will set them up for success in life!
These books will serve to enhance the love of literacy that I instill in my students each day. The classroom library is a place my students love to visit! In our classroom library children read independently, buddy read, and listen to audiobooks. Every student book that is placed in the library is treated with love and respect, and the students are grateful for each opportunity to read the books. I have chosen sets of high-interest books that were written for students at various independent reading levels.
These new books will allow students to choose books written at or near their reading level, which will help them continue not only to enjoy independent reading time, but also to continue to grow and improve as readers.
The single most effective strategy for improving reading is practice, and these books will help my students practice reading books they find fun and engaging.
