Do you love listening to a good song or a book but you hate when you cannot hear it? My students feel the same way! They love to listen to books but they need quality headphones to help them listen to their books. Without the right equipment they cannot fully enjoy the listening center.
I teach first grade and I have 24 students in my first grade classroom this year.
I have 17 boys and 7 girls. They are a very sweet bunch of students and are very eager to learn and explore new things. I love to provide them with new opportunities that they are not able to explore outside of the classroom. Most of the students in my classroom come from a single family home and several of my students are being raised by a grandparent. Most of my students live in a home with only one income or no income at all. I strive as their teacher to provide them with a variety of experiences since most of them cannot afford such luxuries at home.
My Project
I am asking for headphones to enhance my listening center. As my students are listening to books they have a very difficult time using ear buds and I have a hard time keeping the ear buds clean. I want to incorporate headphones into my listening center to provide my students with quality and sanitary listening. While using ear buds, they are unable to fully hear because most of the children cannot keep the ear buds in their ears. I want to enhance their learning and listening with headphones and I want to increase their passion for reading by using effective products.

As they listen to books, they are able to connect to the stories, characters, and adventures. When I am able to incorporate 'quality listening' into their listening center, it will enhance the stories and allow the characters to fully come to life. It will make a difference in the lives of all of my students, especially those that lack the privilege of using technology in their home.
