My Students
Forty-six young men and women, of different backgrounds and beliefs, enter my classroom daily. They help each other in this journey called 5th grade. Our elementary school has nearly 700 students attending, with close to 100 in fifth grade, alone. Church Point is a small rural town in southern Louisiana.
Many of my students are working very hard to achieve and accomplish the status of being "on grade level" in mathematics.
A select few are "above grade level." I am constantly trying to differentiate and meet the needs of these learners.
My Project
Strong, well-made headphones would be a great addition to our classroom. My students love to work on computer programs, such as Zearn, to learn new mathematical concepts.
A good pair of headphones is imperative when working and learning on a computer.
My students are currently using inexpensive and cheaply made earbuds. They are broken and lost easily. Often times sound only is heard in one earbud. New headphones would allow my students to not only hear learning tutorials better on Zearn, but would also act as a concentration enhancer. These headphones would also be more comfortable for my students, increasing their chances for success.
