My Students
Walking down the halls of our school, you can see, hear, and feel the diversity that makes it such a special place. We are the elementary refugee magnet school for the city, and have over 60 languages and 40 countries represented within our walls.
Many of our students have survived unimaginable circumstances, and have found a safe space in our building.
They come to school ready to grow as learners and community members. The sense of belonging and inclusion, built around the idea that "it's our differences that make us the same," is truly special.
My Project
Without enough computers in the building for each student, computer carts and headphones are shared among classes. Our current supply of "cheap" headphones includes many damaged pairs. Cords are fraying, earpieces are missing, and microphones no longer work.
Our English Learners need every opportunity to develop their language domains, especially speaking and listening, and quality headphones would be a massive asset to their learning.
They would be able to practice, test, and increase their language skills with quality tools at their hands. These USB headphones would also work on any of our devices in the building. Thank you so much!
