Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are part of a Dual Language program. Our classroom is their first introduction to learning a second language and the children are eager to learn through a variety of methods. Exposing children to a second language early on serves to enhance their learning experience.
In our multicultural, low-income community, students arrive with a smile.
They look forward to trying new things and using materials that they have never used before. Our unique program allows them to learn all subjects in English and Spanish on a daily basis.
My Project
Preschool students use the art center to create 3-D and 2-D art. While doing so, they develop important fine motor skills as well while exploring a variety of materials. Weaving looms and loops give young children practice with patterns as they are introduced to textiles. Burlap is the perfect material for young children to explore the art of sewing with plastic safety needles using various gems and sequins as added decoration. Plastic storage containers will keep all materials well organized and accessible at all times and tape and dispenser for colored masking tape makes it easy for small hands to wrap things up.
