Who doesn't love Ceramics! I teach sixth grade visual arts at one of Texas' largest Title One Intermediate Schools. At this urban school, I teach all students from the Autism unit, the Deaf Ed., the general population and Gifted and Talented. All of my students would greatly benefit from a quality ceramics unit.
We have no supplies! All of my students are asking if we will be having a ceramics unit. They know that other communities have ceramics in their schools and without help, I am afraid that I will have to tell my students that they will be 'left behind'. Our community does not have the proper funding to provide students with a quality ceramics unit.
I have a kiln and firing cones that the district has provided for the school. But I do need some expendable supplies. We need clay and glazes. Please, please help us. All of the sixth graders would greatly appreciate your help!
Your help will make it possible for my students to experience a quality ceramics unit. It will allow my students to make something tangible and functional to share with their families. Moreover, I know that it would make each and every one of them feel special and not forgotten.
Thank you for your time.
