My Students

Our school is made up of a high population of free and reduced-rate lunch students. We have a high poverty rate, and under-perform on standardized testing. In addition to teacher English, I am the yearbook adviser.

My yearbook students are passionate about journalism, especially photojournalism.

I typically keep my yearbook students all four years they are in high school, and it is wonderful seeing them grow and develop their journalism skills as they mature.

My Project

Memory cards are an integral part of the photography process. The size and speed of the card makes all the difference.

My students are using unreliable older memory cards that are slow and fill up quickly .

As we continue to slowly upgrade our cameras, it is important that we also update the memory cards. If a card doesn't have a fast enough write speed, it hinders the photographer's ability to continually capture shots. This could be disastrous if they miss a critical moment because the memory card is overworked.
