The kids in my classroom are beautiful, smart, resilient, funny, inquisitive, and curious. They come to me with a great multitude of backgrounds, experiences, skills, and personalities and we are on this third grade journey together!
As a third grade teacher, I am part of a great team that encourages me to try new and even intimidating projects with such eager learners.
With this great support I still have a need for materials which make learning that much more engaging and diversified. At my school, much is being done to provide students with learning outside of the classroom including a garden space and a Maker Lab. We take frequent field trips, work as grade level teams to create rich units, and encourage each other to take chances and try new strategies.
My Project
I've requested many of the basic art supplies we are in need of and regularly use or borrow from fellow teachers. Construction paper, Sharpies, and paint brushes are part of our usual repertoire of art supplies. I would like to expand our horizons and use such mediums as quality watercolor paper, oil pastels, and charcoal pencils.
By integrating more interesting and in-depth art projects, I hope to employ the skills of divergent thinking, creativity, and perseverance.
Art studies sparks high interest in students and can be applied in cross-curricular settings. With your generous donation, I will be able to provide fun and rich art lessons.
