Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an inquisitive group of third graders in an inner-city public school in Arizona. With over 90% of our students on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program one might think that our students are poor, but that would be far from the truth! What our children lack in money, they make up for in their curiosity and desire to learn! My room is the home for the gifted students at my grade level, and they have an insatiable appetite for information.
I have been told that as a teacher I help to create the future, but the truth is that the creative minds in my care hold the keys to greatness within them and they can change the world regardless of their socioeconomic status!
My Project
I'm asking for a Qball microphone ball to add some excitement and fun into the constant hum of discourse that fills the air in my classroom. This amazing ball is a portable, throwable microphone that is made of light, soft, durable foam and is designed to withstand endless hours of use. When someone speaks into the ball, it projects their voice for everyone to hear giving even the quietest of students a voice that can be heard.
Today's classrooms are high-stake learning environments where teachers must be innovative in weaving fun into the daily pursuit of knowledge and the Qball will help me to achieve that!
It will help me not only to ensure that students stay engaged and that all voices are heard, but will also motivate children to share their thinking and ideas.
