Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are mixed general education and special education students who are excited about their upcoming seventh grade school year. 75% of students receive reduced-price lunch and come from various types of backgrounds and cultures. But they are all "my kids" during the school year.
My students demonstrate the ability to persevere throughout the school year as we read engaging texts dealing with daily struggles for the main characters.
These texts allow my students to connect to the character and see how their daily lives are not as difficult as they may appear.
My Project
Classroom discussion is the best way to engage students in the topic that is being taught. Prior knowledge is activated and students feel more comfortable with checking in with their classmates before they answer something incorrectly. As we build these skills toward the end of the school year, we want to strengthen our discussion techniques. One way to do this is through clear classroom speaking.
Students always want to share their thoughts with their classmates.
However, being unable to hear them in our large classroom is at times an issue. Also, the traffic and noise around our building doesn't help to encourage clear and engaging classroom discussion. Having the Qball will allow students to have the ability to clearly share their ideas with their classmates for all to hear.
