Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a kindergarten teacher at a Title l school, with all of our students coming from many different backgrounds. When each student comes to school they receive free breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. In my classroom, there are 12 students who receive English Language services on a daily basis, three students who receive speech services, and one student who gets sensory breaks each day. Although these things may make it more difficult to learn, my students come in every day ready to learn with a great attitude and so much love.
My Project
My students love doing puzzles, and they are an important educational learning tool for young children as they provide many skills and mental learning benefits and opportunities. Puzzles provide opportunities for students to work on problem solving, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination. These are all critical in the development of young children. Puzzles also help my students with social skill, as they are usually doing them with another student.
I have chosen some large floor puzzles which the students love because they get to work together and they feel very accomplished and proud when they are finished.
I have also added some writing tablets, so they are able to work on their writing in a new and fun way.
