Help me give my students the opportunity to develop their eye-hand coordination, strengthen their fine motor skills, and encourage sharing and turn taking by using puzzles.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The love of learning begins at a very early age! My classroom is full of very active little learners. Our children attend a Title I school that is located in an urban, high poverty community, where 96% of the students are economically disadvantaged.
The majority of my students are either homeless or come from single-parent homes, which causes them to have limited access to everyday learning materials.
It is hurtful to say that so many of them have been through much more in their short 3-5 years than any of us could ever imagine. Even with that being said, they somehow find a way to come to school every day eager and ready to learn.
My Project
My class is requesting puzzles for our classroom. Puzzles will make a great asset to our classroom. It has been my observation and experience that puzzles help in young children develop their small muscle. Young children must learn at an early age how to use simple movements and dexterity in their hands and fingers. What better way to do this but with puzzles.
If this project is funded, the puzzles will be used to provide many skills and mental learning benefits to the children in our classroom.
Some but not all of the benefits of playing with these puzzles will include cognition skills, problem solving, fine motor development, hand and eye coordination, social and emotional development, and self-esteem as the students place the pieces in tiny places and spaces.
