Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is where foundations in various academic and social skills are implemented. The National Standards are set high even for four- and five-year olds entering school. Teachers are mandated to teach students of various backgrounds and cultures the skills that can start them on the road to academic success.
In kindergarten, students are introduced to reading, writing, math, socializing and communication through various activities throughout the day. It is the teacher's role to make learning fun for all of the students. FUN is the key word.
FUN should be the essential tool that drives instruction. Sometimes fun means bringing in materials that are not ordinary for students to explore. I find that puzzles are a great tool.
PUZZLES are FUN and ENTERTAINING tools that can not only increase learning but can also increase students' fine motor skills and visual abilities to distinguish various shapes, colors, and information in order to complete the puzzles. I have found that we (our classroom) lack this amazing tool. I brought a shape puzzle, a colors puzzle, a numbers puzzle and a puzzle of farm animals to get us started.
I would really love to get a few educational puzzles that can assist my students in various academic areas while they are having fun. We will also need a stand in which to store our wonderful puzzles. If you are a fan of PUZZLES or just like me believe that children in kindergarten should have FUN tools to help them learn, PLEASE CONSIDER FILLING OUR ROOM WITH PUZZLES THAT CAN HELP US LEARN IN A DIFFERENT BUT FUN WAY.
