Hi, I am the special education teacher in a kindergarten inclusion class in Brooklyn. My class consists of students who have a range of disabilities. These disabilities include speech/language impairments, learning disabilities, and autism. We are a Title I, early-childhood center. Approximately seventy-five percent of our students receive free lunch.
Recently, a new student was transfered into my class and asked where the puzzles were. He had puzzles in his original kindergarten class and became interested in them. Sadly, we do not have a lot of funding in our school for these types of materials, so there are no puzzles in our classroom.
I would love to give my students the opportunity to play with puzzles in our classroom. Puzzles can be a fun way for students to increase spatial awareness skills, develop fine motor skills, increase shape awareness, and build logical thinking skills.
I am asking for a donation of storybook jigsaw puzzles and floor puzzles to be used in our classroom. My students would love to play with puzzles, and the knowledge they will gain from these experiences will be endless!
Thank you.
